Last week I unboxed the AIM Sports FAL M-Lok handguard, and over the weekend I was able to get the handguard installed and test fired.
Installation on my Imbel on Imbel FAL went pretty smoothly: the top and bottom portions of the handguards are set into into the handguard ring, the standard FAL handguard screw holds them together, and then 6 screws hold the top and bottom portions together. I didn't have to modify or alter the handguards or rifle to get them to fit, and after mounting the handguard it felt solid, and didn't move in any way:
The handguards are slightly narrower than the stock Imbel handguards, which had a nice unexpected benefit: I have a folding charging handle on my FAL, and the narrower handgards made it easier to grab the folded handle:
After installation I test fired the rifle with about 100 rounds. The handguard screws did not loosen during the test firing, and the handguard did not heat up uncomfortably. The slots in the handguard seem to be able to dissipate the heat from the barrel fast than my Imbel handguards did.
Overall I'm impressed with the handguards: the fit and function were excellent, and it gives the FAL a slightly more modern look that I like. Definite thumbs up to AIM Sports, and I'll keep you all posted if I have any problems with the handguards,
